Club Sandwich, in 5 ideas
- Three slices of bread is what makes it a club. Two slices is just a sandwich.
- Toast the bread well so it holds up under all those layers.
- Cut on the diagonal for the classic diner presentation.
- Chill the tomato slices before assembling so the sandwich stays crisp.
- Mayo on every bread surface keeps the fillings in place like glue.
What you need
Ingredients
- 6 slices white or wheat bread
- 4 tbsp mayonnaise
- 6 oz sliced turkey breast
- 4 oz sliced ham
- 4 slices bacon, cooked crisp
- 4 lettuce leaves
- 1 tomato, sliced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 frilly toothpicks
How to make it
Directions
- Toast all 6 bread slices until golden.
- Spread mayo on one side of each toast slice.
- On two slices, layer turkey, lettuce, and tomato. Season with salt and pepper. Top each with a second slice of toast, mayo side down.
- Spread mayo on top of those middle slices. Layer ham, bacon, and lettuce on each.
- Crown with the final toast slices, mayo side down.
- Cut each sandwich into 4 triangles and secure each quarter with a toothpick.
Use a long serrated knife and press down gently when cutting. A sawing motion keeps the layers from sliding apart.
