A food site that changes with the seasons. By itself.
Here is the deal we are making with this page: if nobody touches Clear Recipe for the next three years, it will still greet every season with the right food, on the right day, with nobody having to remember. This page is the plan, written down where everyone can see it.
Why seasons
Food is the most seasonal thing in ordinary life. Nobody wants a burger manifesto in the middle of Thanksgiving week, and nobody is looking for eggnog in July. The best food sites feel edited by someone who knows what month it is. A person should not have to be that someone every few weeks, so the calendar does it.
The calendar
Eleven windows a year. Each one has a start, an end, and a shelf of dishes that already live in the catalog. When a window opens, its food takes the front door. When it closes, the next one is already waiting.

Jan 1 to Jan 19
New Year Reset
Bright soups, big salads, clean starts. The lightest shelf of the catalog leads the year.

Feb 1 to Feb 14
Valentine's
Chocolate in every form, plus desserts made for two.

The 3 weeks around Easter
Spring and Easter
Lamb, glazed ham, carrot cake, and the first green things. Easter falls on Mar 28 in 2027, Apr 16 in 2028, and Apr 1 in 2029, and the window moves with it.

Late April to May 31
Late Spring
Fresh, green, and quick. The windows open and cooking drifts outside.

Jun 1 to Jul 15
Grilling Season
Everything that loves fire: ribs, burgers, corn on the cob, and a little smoke.

Jul 16 to Sep 7
High Summer
No-cook dinners, peak tomatoes, ceviche, stone fruit, and all the gelato.

Sep 8 to Oct 24
Cozy Fall
Braises, soups, apples, and squash. The oven comes back on and nobody minds.

Oct 25 to Oct 31
Halloween
One week of pumpkin everything, caramel apples, and spooky bakes.

Nov 1 to Thanksgiving Day
Thanksgiving
The full table from the 28 Thanksgiving dishes already in the catalog: turkey, stuffing, cranberry, and pie, under one house rule, the Open Table, there is always room for one more. Leftover turkey dishes hold the front page until Nov 30. The day itself is Nov 26 in 2026, Nov 25 in 2027, Nov 23 in 2028, and Nov 22 in 2029.

Dec 1 to Dec 25
Christmas
Cookies, roasts, mulled everything. The December table, all month long.

Dec 26 to Dec 31
The Quiet Week
Broths, leftovers, and slow days between the holidays. Nothing loud, everything warm.
What changes when a season opens
The front door. The home page headline and its lead dishes become the season's: roast turkey and stuffing in November, gingerbread and roast goose in December, ribs and corn in June.
A collection page. Each season gets its own page (think /thanksgiving/ and /christmas/) with the full shelf of dishes in one place, live for its window and kept as a permanent holiday archive afterwards.
One piece of art. Every season has a single warm banner image, made once and reused every year, the way a good restaurant repaints the same sign each spring.
Nothing else. Recipe pages never change with the seasons. A margherita is a margherita in January and in June. Your saved recipes stay exactly where you left them.
How it runs itself
- One calendar file holds every window through 2029, including the moving ones: Thanksgiving and Easter are computed for each year, not guessed.
- A weekly check compares the date to the calendar. When a window opens, the home page and the season's collection are rebuilt from the catalog in the site's current design, the same way every page here is built.
- Every switch is verified the way everything on this site is verified: by reading the live page and checking its title and content, never by trusting a status code.
- Failure is safe. If a switch ever fails, the site simply stays on the previous season. A missed change can never break the site, because the evergreen pages underneath never move.
- A short monthly note records what changed and when, and every fall the dish photos get the full audit treatment, so the imagery stays at the standard the catalog holds today.
The next three years
Year 1: the engine
The calendar and the weekly switch ship, starting with Thanksgiving and Christmas 2026. English first, seasons on the home page and the first collection pages.
Year 2: the full calendar
All eleven windows run, Easter's moving window is proven in the wild, and Spanish joins with its own seasonal shelves.
Year 3: every language
All 15 languages change with the seasons, the holiday archives are complete, and the art and photo audits refresh on their own cycle. The site now runs its year the way a good kitchen runs its menu.
The only rule
Nobody has to remember any of this. The engine runs on the calendar, not on memory. A single message can override any season at any time, but no message is ever required. That is the whole point.
Status: this page is the proposal, published for the record on October 31, 2026. On approval, the first season the engine runs is Thanksgiving 2026, with the turkey exactly where it belongs: at the front door, on time, unannounced.
